UNICEF Amsterdam Student Team for Burundi

The UNICEF Amsterdam Student Team would like to invite you to participate with them to this fundraising for their annual project – Maman Lumière (Light Mother) – aiming at tackling malnutrition in Burundi. This project is the common project of the UNICEF student team in the Netherlands. Burundi is a country situated in Central Africa with approximately 6 millions children (half of the country population) of which over 2 millions are younger than 5 years old. Among these 2 millions, 56% are chronically malnourished, which is the highest percentage in the world. Chronically malnourished children are more prone to illness, stay behind in their growth and their brains develop insufficiently. UNICEF, via this project, aims at working with and alongside local communities in increasing awareness on good nutrition through cooking classes, providing seeds to set up nutritious gardens and teaching communication skills for them to teach other mothers in different communities. It also trains mothers to screen children for malnutrition and what to do in these cases. Donations are represented as follow – 2,50€ means a food-kit for one child, 15€ means the organisation of one cooking class, 20€ means the organisation of 2 malnutrition screening sessions and 50€ means the full training of one Maman Lumière. If you would like to support this initiative, click on the button below and donate whatever you feel like. Any support is much appreciated.
